The ‘M’ on the forehead is a dominant patterned marking found on all tabby patterned cats. This prominent marking is not specific to the Maine Coon breed, nor does it signify you have a Maine Coon cat. Simply put it is a pattern that is visible on cats throughout the world, provided the cat has some tabby markings.
It is difficult to provide an average weight of kittens. There are numerous factors that come into play. Some kittens may look small because they came from a large litter, some kittens look smaller or more compact, but weigh the same as other kittens, and some look larger due to the length of their coat. One thing to keep in mind is that the female kitten reaches her full size around 3-4 years and a male around 4-5 years. They grow extremely slow. A domestic cat will reach full size around 6-9 months of age. At 1.5 to 2 years, a Maine Coon will start to fill in and you’ll begin to see what the cat will truly look like.
As for our kittens, we can only guesstimate their future size. The size of a kitten is affected by the care that is provided by the adopter (nutrition quality and quantity, supplementation, medical care, etc.). Another factor is the size of the kittens’ parents. We can only guesstimate what the parents’ size will be once they are fully grown because breeding cats are still growing and are generally retired and rehomed long before they reach their full size.
We do our best to provide a true and honest opinion of each kitten to ensure the adopter is equipped to make the best decision.
